At Flomina Children’s Home, we believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and providing a brighter future for our children. However, some of our students in high school are facing financial difficulties due to unpaid fees at Highway Boys Secondary School and other institutions. Additionally, some of our past students have successfully completed high school but are unable to collect their certificates because of outstanding fee balances.

Flomina Children’s Home is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for its children. To continue meeting the needs of our growing population and improving the quality of care, we have identified several urgent priorities:
A. DORMITORY CONSTRUCTION
Our current dormitories are overcrowded, forcing many children to share limited space. We urgently need to build additional dormitories to provide each child with adequate personal space, privacy, and a conducive environment for rest and well-being.
B. SECURITY PERIMETER FENCE
Ensuring the safety of our children is paramount. We need to construct a security perimeter wall to protect the home from external threats and unauthorized access.
C. DINING HALL CONSTRUCTION
A proper dining hall is essential for organized meal times. A dining hall will allow us to serve all the children together in a structured environment. In addition to the construction of a dining hall, we need tables, chairs, and dining equipment to provide a comfortable dining environment for the children.
D. WASHROOMS AND TOILETS
The current sanitation facilities are inadequate for the number of children we care for. We aim to build additional washrooms and toilets to maintain hygiene and reduce health risks.
A. BEDDINGS AND BEDS
Many children share beds or sleep on worn-out mattresses. To improve comfort and overall well-being, we need more beds, mattresses, blankets, and other bedding items.
B. DINING FACILITIES
In addition to building the dining hall, we require tables, chairs, and dining equipment to create a comfortable eating environment for the children.
C. READING BOOKS AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
Education is key to our children’s development. We need more textbooks, reading materials, and other educational resources to support their learning.
A. ELECTRICITY POWER BILL SETTLEMENT
We currently face a significant electricity bill amounting to Ksh 604,000. Clearing this outstanding balance is critical to maintaining power for lighting, educational facilities and future sustainability project.
B. SOLAR POWER INSTALLATION
To reduce utility costs and promote sustainability, we aim to install solar panels, which will provide a reliable, renewable energy source and lower our dependence on electricity.
A. OPERATIONAL COSTS
Regular funding is needed to cover daily expenses, including food, utilities, and staff salaries.
B. EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
Financial help for school fees, uniforms, books, and educational materials is essential to provide children with a quality education.
C. HEALTHCARE
Medical expenses for regular check-ups, treatments, and medication also require support to ensure the health and well-being of the children.
D. MATERIAL DONATIONS
We need donations of food, groceries, clothing, footwear, educational supplies, and furniture such as beds, mattresses, and appliances to improve living conditions.
A. TUTORING AND MENTORING
We welcome volunteers who can assist with homework, provide educational guidance, and mentor the children.
B. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Healthcare professionals who can offer free medical check-ups and treatment are crucial for the children’s health.
C. FACILITY MAINTENANCE
Skilled volunteers are needed for plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs to maintain our facilities.
A. AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY
we need help raising awareness about the needs and mission of Flomina Children’s Home through social media, events, and community outreach.
B. PARTNERSHIPS
Collaboration with local businesses, organizations, and individuals who can provide resources and support is vital to sustaining our programs.
A. INCOME-GENERATING PROJECTS
We are seeking funding and support for income-generating projects like small-scale farming, crafts, or a community shop to create financial independence for the home.
B. CAPACITY BUILDING
Training for staff and volunteers to enhance their skills is essential for improving the quality of care provided to the children.
Annual rent for the 1-acre plot where the home is situated: KES 900,000 The potential cost to purchase the land (negotiable): KES 80,000,000
